"For He has made everything beautiful and appropriate in its time" - Ecclesiastes 3:11
As I stand on the brink of moving house, I am reminded of the different seasons in our lives. The changes we need to go through, sometimes by choice and decision and other times with no other options. Sometimes it's just moving house and other times it’s the changes that bring illness, loss or hurt. Either way, just as spring turns to summer, and fall turns to winter and winter turns to spring again, we need to make it through the one season to the next.
As I reflect on what I will leave behind as I move on, I am reminded of the importance of leaving behind all that belongs to yesterday and to declare the new things ahead. We so very often arrive at our long-awaited breakthrough or new season, eager to move on, and we leap, unknowingly taking the old with us. The problem is that we take all of it into our new season. The good, bad and the beautiful. I am of the opinion that God created seasons so that we can continually step into the new and with that have the opportunity to leave everything that will negatively impact us as we move ahead, in the past. He created different seasons in our lives to shape us, help us and create us into who He intended us to be. He uses seasons to show us that He is good and can make everything beautiful for its own time. Seasons, good or bad, are ways for God to capture our hearts and our faith. I am sure by now you have learned that I am not writing about material goods, but the things that we carry in our spirit and our heart. What are you carrying with you that belongs to the season left behind?
You might be in a season today where there is a lot of uncertainty, or fear, or lack. Or you might be in a season where there is certainty, happiness, abundance, and clarity. Our God promises that He is with us in it all and that He will take these things that make life hard for us, and turn them into our most joyful day. He promises to take the darkest season of your life and turn it into the most magical season.
I want to encourage you today to put before your Heavenly Father all that is in your heart. Ask Him to reveal to you everything that you need to leave behind as you move into your tomorrow. Trust Him to show you the beautiful treasures that are meant for your next season and your new day and be bold and brave to move onwards, trusting that He will replace the old with the new. That’s our God, who can make all things new!
